  • Thank you ISC!

A HUGE thank you to all UCC Illinois South Conference Churches that donated items to Hoyleton Ministries this past weekend at the ISC Annual Meeting. Picture here is our Director of Philanthropy Craig Steiner and Tom May a supporter of Hoyleton who graciously transported the items to us.

The items will soon find their home at Salem House our newest ministry that will provide services for youth who are diagnosed as intellectually and/or developmentally disabled and in need of 24-hour care in an interdisciplinary treatment program. Residents will range in age from 9 to 21, generally have IQ’s of 50 or below, and display autism spectrum disorders, significant impairment in learning, social skills and other areas of daily functioning, and may also have medical complexities.

  • There they go!

Hoyleton provided over 200 backpacks filled with essentials to deserving students by hosting a back to school picnic and backpack give-a-way to foster families within Hoyelton Foster Care.

“We are committed to providing much needed supplies to help these young people succeed in the upcoming school year. Our goal is to help prepare students in the Hoyleton Foster Care program for learning,” said Sharon McDevitt, Hoyleton Ministries Director of Child Welfare.

The picnic was free for Hoyleton’s Foster and Adoptive families along with the families in Puentes de Esperanza programs entering pre-k through high school. Hot dogs and hamburgers were served thanks to a donation from Kretzer’s Grill located in Hoyleton!

Hoyleton is participating in one BIG day of giving on Tuesday May 5th… and we need your help!  Spread the word, share our Facebook post, and goto: http://www.givestlday.org/#npo/hoyleton-ministries to donate yourself!  Prices and incentives are going on throughout the 24 hour period.

    giveSTLday

Give STL Day is a big, bold opportunity for us and for our community. A partnership between the Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation and local nonprofits from across the area, Give STL Day is an online day of giving where nonprofits like ours will be reaching out to our donors – and looking for new ones – as we educate them about our mission and raise operating funds. We raised over $1,000 last year, and Give STL Day generated a total of $1.1 million for the 528 participating nonprofits.

Local impact with a national twist. Like last year, we will be joining more than 100 communities across the country to raise millions of dollars for the greater good—all on a single day.
Visit www.givestlday.org for additional details, and don’t forget to give on May 5!

    Thank you for your support!

  • We Hear You

Hoyleton provides a home for children who have some of the most challenging personal backgrounds in the State of Illinois. We have been providing this kind of care since 1895. Hoyleton’s multi-facility residential program works with young people ages 9-21 with IQs of 40-70; each client faces unique social, intellectual, and behavioral challenges. We work hard to create a supportive environment where they can learn to be productive and healthy members of society.

Hoyleton is always happy to see that the community is advocating for the children we serve. We truly believe that our young people cannot have too many people who care for their well-being. Our president and CEO Chris Cox frequently says, “As a society, these are our children.” Those who choose to make a career of caring for Hoyleton’s residents know that they will be working in difficult but extremely rewarding circumstances. We provide training in safety, counseling, and trauma based treatment. We take any incident that impacts their safety very seriously.

We are listening to the comments. We are committed to those inside and outside our organization. We work to ensure that the care that residents receive and the service our employees provide is appreciated, is the highest quality, and that our facilities meet the strictest safety and staffing guidelines.

We encourage the community to contact us directly with their concerns on our Communities that care line: 618-493-7382 ext. 1399.

  • Hoyleton Ministries wins FBI Award

Hoyleton Ministries is pleased to announce that they will receive the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director’s Community Leadership Award in recognition of the services they provide to children and families throughout Southern Illinois. FBI Director James B. Comey will present the award to Hoyleton at an official ceremony in Washington, D.C., in May 2015.

Hoyleton is one of only 56 service agencies from across the United States that will be recognized.

“We are thrilled to receive the Director’s Award,” said Hoyleton President and CEO Christopher Cox. “We pride ourselves on constantly looking for new and innovative ways to meet the needs of our region.”

Hoyleton is a 120 year old agency that focuses on five core areas: Residential Services, Child Welfare Services, Behavioral Health, Puentes de Esperanza (Bridges of Hope), and Preventative Services. They work with approximately 2,000 clients each year across a 16,000 square mile service area.

“Hoyleton’s work is broad because we respond when a community need is identified. We continue to fulfill our historic mission of providing a safe home for children, but have expanded into areas like community education, mental health services, and assistance to Spanish speaking residents,” Cox said.

The Community Leadership Award, presented on behalf of the Director of the FBI, was formally created in 1990. The award recognizes individuals and organizations who have made their communities a safer place to live.
