• Be a HOYLETON HERO on MAY 5th 2015!

Hoyleton is participating in one BIG day of giving on Tuesday May 5th… and we need your help!  Spread the word, share our Facebook post, and goto: to donate yourself!  Prices and incentives are going on throughout the 24 hour period.

Give STL Day is a big, bold opportunity for us and for our community. A partnership between the Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation and local nonprofits from across the area, Give STL Day is an online day of giving where nonprofits like ours will be reaching out to our donors – and looking for new ones – as we educate them about our mission and raise operating funds. We raised over $1,000 last year, and Give STL Day generated a total of $1.1 million for the 528 participating nonprofits.

Local impact with a national twist. Like last year, we will be joining more than 100 communities across the country to raise millions of dollars for the greater good—all on a single day.
Visit for additional details, and don’t forget to give on May 5!

    Thank you for your support!

  • We Hear You

Hoyleton provides a home for children who have some of the most challenging personal backgrounds in the State of Illinois. We have been providing this kind of care since 1895. Hoyleton’s multi-facility residential program works with young people ages 9-21 with IQs of 40-70; each client faces unique social, intellectual, and behavioral challenges. We work hard to create a supportive environment where they can learn to be productive and healthy members of society.

Hoyleton is always happy to see that the community is advocating for the children we serve. We truly believe that our young people cannot have too many people who care for their well-being. Our president and CEO Chris Cox frequently says, “As a society, these are our children.” Those who choose to make a career of caring for Hoyleton’s residents know that they will be working in difficult but extremely rewarding circumstances. We provide training in safety, counseling, and trauma based treatment. We take any incident that impacts their safety very seriously.

We are listening to the comments. We are committed to those inside and outside our organization. We work to ensure that the care that residents receive and the service our employees provide is appreciated, is the highest quality, and that our facilities meet the strictest safety and staffing guidelines.

We encourage the community to contact us directly with their concerns on our Communities that care line: 618-493-7382 ext. 1399.

  • Hoyleton Ministries wins FBI Award

Hoyleton Ministries is pleased to announce that they will receive the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director’s Community Leadership Award in recognition of the services they provide to children and families throughout Southern Illinois. FBI Director James B. Comey will present the award to Hoyleton at an official ceremony in Washington, D.C., in May 2015.

Hoyleton is one of only 56 service agencies from across the United States that will be recognized.

“We are thrilled to receive the Director’s Award,” said Hoyleton President and CEO Christopher Cox. “We pride ourselves on constantly looking for new and innovative ways to meet the needs of our region.”

Hoyleton is a 120 year old agency that focuses on five core areas: Residential Services, Child Welfare Services, Behavioral Health, Puentes de Esperanza (Bridges of Hope), and Preventative Services. They work with approximately 2,000 clients each year across a 16,000 square mile service area.

“Hoyleton’s work is broad because we respond when a community need is identified. We continue to fulfill our historic mission of providing a safe home for children, but have expanded into areas like community education, mental health services, and assistance to Spanish speaking residents,” Cox said.

The Community Leadership Award, presented on behalf of the Director of the FBI, was formally created in 1990. The award recognizes individuals and organizations who have made their communities a safer place to live.

Hoyleton Ministries 2014 Annual Golf Classic a Rousing Success!

A staple in the month of July, our annual golf classic benefiting youth as they begin their journey to independence and those in need throughout Southwest Illinois – had another successful day full of smiles, laughs and some swings of a golf club!

Believe it or not, the weather was a little chilly but the sun did sneak out a few times throughout the day. It turned out to be a great day with all the golfers enjoying complimentary ice cream, drinks, and a goodie bag filled with surprises. The golfing was capped off with a delicious supper from Cygan-Delaney Catering offering a fresh salad, cooked to perfection sides and mouth watering beef and pork.  Golf Prizes were handed out to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams divided into 3 flights and individuals winning the contest holes.

Photographer Dan Groom, captured the spirit of the day through his lens.  You can see more of his work on our Facebook page by clicking here.

  • Hoyleton Selected as Mental Healthcare Provider Under Medicaid Expansion

Medicaid recently lifted a 20 year moratorium on adding new healthcare providers to its approved list.  Hoyleton is pleased to announce that it was one of the first to be given a new Medicaid Provider Number and will now be able to offer mental health services to the community at large.

“I think it shows a great amount of respect for the quality of services Hoyleton provides.  This kind of approval typically goes to community mental health centers; we are one of the few and possibly only faith-based organization to be selected,” said Jill Lombardo, Chief Operating Officer.

Hoyeton has been approved to provide services to Region 5, which includes 27 counties in Southwestern Illinois.  Jill says that Hoyleton will eventually be able to provide family, individual, and group mental health services to anyone who needs them.

“This is a thinking-outside-the-box kind of initiative.  It’s not something we’ve ever done before but it will allow us to expand and offer even more services to those in need,” Jill said.

Hoyleton plans to first provide additional services to those among their existing client base.  A committee made up of members of Hoyleton’s Board of Directors will help the organization assess the needs of the community and decide how to proceed accordingly.

Illinois is one of 25 states to expand Medicaid coverage. Nationwide, this means that approximately 18 million people who need it are now eligible for mental healthcare coverage.

  • Hoyleton Goes to Camp!

As vans filled with 24 young people from Hoyleton Children’s Home rolled into the parking lot at DuBois Center, the air was filled with anticipation as well as a bit of apprehension. The DuBois Center team was prepped and ready. Special training had even been provided by a behavioral specialist from Hoyleton Ministries. But, despite preparations, many were uncertain as to what to expect. What they found were enthusiastic young people who embraced the experience – despite the heat! Together, campers and leaders, laughed and sang, rode horses, swam in the lake, jumped off the dock, roasted marshmallows and created artful treasures. They shared lunch together in the dining hall, toured the lake on a pontoon boat and enjoyed a song-filled wagon ride. This was the second year for Hoyleton Day Camp, which is funded by grants and donations secured by Hoyleton Ministries. We all felt blessed to be a part of this experience and this partnership.
