Puentes de Esperanza
Hoyleton’s Puentes de Esperanza (Bridges of Hope) program is a trusted resource for Southern Illinois’ Spanish-speaking residents. Our staff provides services that address their physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs during their journey to become a vibrant part of our communities.
Puentes Staff members serve the Hispanic Community through the following programs:
Community Outreach provides a wide range of services that are designed to assist the Latino population overcome the barriers that prevent them from receiving needed services, including assistance with navigating legal, medical and social services systems, and by providing interpretation, translation, advocacy and education. The service array also includes interpretation for the early intervention program that serves developmentally disabled children aged 0 – 3, bilingual counseling and a Women’s Support Group.
Latino Special Services serves families who have been reported to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) due to allegations of abuse or neglect. Puentes staff provides interpretation and translation for DCFS staff during their abuse/neglect investigations and is able to provide other services to the involved parents such as parenting education, resource linkage and child well-being monitoring.
Bi-lingual Therapy offers support for individuals, children, and families facing difficult life circumstances through both individual counseling and support groups.
The Women’s Health Initiative seeks to increase awareness of breast and cervical health issues in the Latina community through outreach events, workshops, and one-on-one appointments. The Patient Navigator engages the Latina community in various avenues and outreaches to 300 or more Latina women per quarter. Women enrolled in the program will have access to screenings, medical services, transportation to appointments, and follow-up engagement with the Patient Navigator. This initiative also networks with healthcare provides to increase access to services for Latinas as well as advocacy to reduce service barriers the community faces.
