Hoyleton Youth and Family Services believes that every person has a purpose and worth. For over a century, our mission has been to support children, families, and individuals facing life's challenges through compassionate care and meaningful support.
Originally a home for orphaned children, we now provide a range of transformative programs and services. Our trauma-informed, relational, and holistic approach addresses both immediate needs and long-term stability.

Who We Are
Founded in 1895 during a cholera outbreak as an orphanage, Hoyleton Youth and Family Services has served southern Illinois for over 130 years. It has grown into an innovative mental health organization offering more than 20 programs supporting the well-being of youth and families at all life stages.
Using an integrated, trauma-informed approach, Hoyleton strengthens families, empowers individuals, and increases access to education, wellness, and community resources. As a faith-based group rooted in the social justice tradition of the United Church of Christ, Hoyleton’s mission is to help people of all ages experience the life wholeness God intends.

How We Help
Hoyleton delivers services through a continuum-of-care model, ensuring individuals and families receive the right level of support at the right time.
Hoyleton provides a range of programs and services, including: Child Welfare Services, Emerging Adult Services, Therapeutic Residential Care, Behavioral Health Services, Community Support Services, and Puentes de Esperanza.
This integrated model allows Hoyleton to coordinate efforts in addressing emotional health, family stability, life skills development, and community connection holistically.

This will be accomplished with the compassion of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit reaching out to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs of those with whom we journey

To provide integrated trauma-informed care that supports the whole person. Through a holistic approach to wellness, we partner with children & families to strengthen every dimension of life, prevent adverse childhood experiences, & promote lasting individual and community well-being.
A Faith-Based Organization Rooted in Social Justice
Hoyleton operates as a faith-based organization founded on the social justice heritage of the United Church of Christ (UCC). Guided by the Christian values of the founding churches of the Illinois South Conference, Hoyleton commits to serving others with compassion, dignity, and respect.
Each year, we positively impact more than 6,000 lives, reflecting our extensive services and community reach. Hoyleton also holds membership in the Council for Health and Human Service Ministries (CHHSM), which strengthens our alignment with the UCC’s inclusive, compassionate beliefs and commitment to service.

Hoyleton is a CARE-certified agency by Cornell University's Residential Child Care Project. This designation reflects our staff’s continuous dedication to embedding the CARE model and its principles into our core structure, decision-making, policies, procedures, and daily practices. Our commitment to this evidence-based, trauma-informed model equips us with the knowledge and tools needed to achieve successful outcomes for the youth and families we serve.
