We're proud to celebrate a former employee, an Adoption Supervisor in our Foster Care Department, for publishing a children's book: Safe and Loved: A Book about Foster Care.
Written for toddlers and preschoolers in foster care, the book uses gentle language and warm illustrations to reassure children that foster families open their homes to offer safety, kindness, and love. She shares, "I wanted to create a book that reminds little ones that no matter where they are or what changes they face, they are safe and loved."
From Adoption Writer to Author
The book grew out of work her was already doing for Hoyleton. As a past adoption writer for the Foster Care team, the role that preceded her move to Adoption Supervisor, she had been creating resources for children and families across the child welfare system, including a 2025 guide for biological parents. Safe & Loved carries that work to the youngest children, the ones facing some of the biggest changes.
A Foster Parent's Perspective
The author knows this journey firsthand. A licensed foster parent since January 2020, she has welcomed nearly ten children into her home. She is currently fostering a 14-year-old girl she previously cared for.
That experience shapes her work every day. From guiding children toward permanency, reunification with birth families, or adoption into a forever family, to making sure foster parents' voices are heard, Sabrina supports children and families through every step of foster care. Her team recently named her Star of the Quarter, crediting her with helping Foster Care reach its highest permanency month on record: 32 in a single December.
