Building Stronger Communities Through Early Intervention

Our Prevention team offers support to youth and families through education, mentoring, and community outreach. We address risk factors before they escalate—supporting healthy choices, informed decision-making, and resilience. Services include substance use education, violence prevention, and teen pregnancy prevention. We partner with schools, caregivers, and organizations to ensure youth receive the tools and confidence they need to succeed.

Substance Abuse Prevention

Helping Youth Understand the Risks of Substance Use

We educate youth on the dangers of drugs, alcohol, and vaping while promoting healthy coping strategies and refusal skills. Programs are tailored for both middle and high school students, encouraging informed decisions through engaging curriculum, follow up discussions and peer-led sessions. We also provide training for parents and educators to recognize early warning signs and open communication channels.

Violence Prevention

Empowering Youth to Resolve Conflict and Prevent Peer and Dating Violence

Through age-appropriate programs, we teach youth to recognize unhealthy behaviors, manage emotions, and build respectful relationships. Our prevention curriculum focuses on empathy, communication, and safety planning—reducing the risk of bullying, peer violence, and dating abuse.

VIOLENCE PREVENTION

Connecting with community partners for neighborhood safety

Hoyleton Youth and Family Services support a network of multi-jurisdiction law enforcement partners to address violent crime. Through violence prevention programs, local law enforcement agencies in Southern Illinois gain additional resources to deal with violence in our communities.

Child Death Investigation Task Force

Hoyleton provides administrative support to the Southern Illinois Child Death Investigation Task Force. The Task Force seeks to enhance the response to a child death or serious/life threatening injuries in the Southern Region of the State. By increasing the knowledge base, providing professional resources, and collaborating with all disciplines involved in the case, CDITF achieves the best possible outcome for the child victim. The Task Force uses a multi-disciplinary team approach to guide investigations and prosecutions.

Project Safe Neighborhood

Hoyleton Youth and Family Services is the fiscal agency for Project Safe Neighborhood initiatives in Central and Southern Illinois. We work with federal, state, and local law enforcement as well as other community partners to reduce gun and gang violence through a combination of strategic enforcement, prevention, and community engagement. A key component of the initiative is identifying and focusing on the most violent offenders to remove them from the streets and disrupt criminal activity. PSN incorporates prevention and intervention strategies to address the root causes of violence and deter future crime.
