Eligibility Requirements
Foster parents don’t just provide shelter, they provide hope, encouragement, and healing — often becoming one of the most fulfilling chapters of their life.
- Must be at least 21 years old
- May be single, married, divorced, or separated for 12+ months
- May or may not have children of your own
- Must be financially able to support a child
- Must pass a background check
Attend Orientation
Learn about Hoyleton, the needs of foster children, and what to expect throughout the licensing journey.
Submit an Application
Complete a formal application to begin the licensing process.
Background Check
Undergo a criminal background screening and fingerprinting.
Foster Parent Training
Attend 9–30 hours of agency-provided classes to prepare you for foster parenting.
Home Study & Safety Check
We’ll visit your home to ensure it’s a safe, stable, and welcoming place for a child.
Get Licensed & Prepare
Once your home is approved and training is complete, you'll receive your foster care license and be ready to welcome a child into your life.
