Schippel Client Goes To Wedding

For children with significant intellectual and developmental challenges, experiencing life’s special moments can sometimes seem out of reach. At Schippel House in Hoyleton’s residential program, EB was facing such a situation: his mother, whom he deeply loves, was getting married, but ensuring his attendance felt daunting due to his sensory sensitivities and supervision needs.

Members of our incredible staff, Joe and Brittany, rose to the occasion. Understanding how important this moment was for EB and his mother, they volunteered to take on a challenging journey. Their care and attention allowed EB to be a part of the day. From soothing him during the 4.5-hour drive to supporting him throughout the festivities, they made it happen. Meanwhile, EB's mother arranged a thoughtful quiet space for him to stay comfortable at the reception.

When EB walked into the wedding, dressed smartly to match the other groomsmen, it brought smiles to everyone present. His family’s joy was evident as they cherished the opportunity to share the occasion together. This meaningful moment highlighted the dedication of our team and their commitment to fostering family bonds. It’s this level of care and compassion that makes a true difference in our work.
