Honoring Decades of Dedication

DATE: August 18, 2022

For some families, Hoyleton Youth & Family Services is a household name. The habit of volunteering and donating has been passed down through generations and become a family tradition. Hoyleton Youth & Family Services began in 1895 as an orphan’s home and has grown with the dedication of these helping hands. For the 2022 Hoyleton Honors, we celebrated our employees, supporters, partners, and volunteers who make a tremendous impact in the lives of the youth and families we represent in southern Illinois.

Our Empowerment Champion honoree was Dr. Karla Scott, professor of communications at St. Louis University and a founding member of the PEERS committee. Her assistance in implementing DE&I (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) has been invaluable for the organization.

For over 17 years, Bandy’s Pharmacy has been an excellent partner to Hoyleton and its communities, providing covid testing clinics, volunteering, and more. They were presented with our Community Connection award.

St Peter UCC in Red Bud on staircase

According to one member of the St Peter UCC in Red Bud the church has been supporting Hoyleton “as long as I can remember!” St. Peter’s fervent support and help in events such as Hike & Bike, Prom at Hoyleton, Back to School, and support of our mission has earned them the 2022 award of Mission Companion.

Guest of Honor

Our guest of honor that night was nine-year-old Payton Petrillo, adopted at two into a blended family of 13. She describes her family as, “like a puzzle, everything’s in its perfect spot”. She assisted the auctioneer on stage during our Fund the Future Auction, where donors received artwork by one of Hoyleton’s residential youths, featuring an inspirational word and painted using a marble painting method. The art was beautiful, and each youth signed their name on the back.

Celebrating the Evening

The 2022 Hoyleton Honors was an evening of food, fun, and celebration, looking to our future and celebrating all who have served alongside us this past year. 148 people came together at the Regency Conference Center of O’Fallon for a night of dancing, good food, and better company. Cupcakes by Sweet Kimistry were a sweet surprise as Hoyleton took a moment to celebrate a belated 125th birthday.

Donations from the evening totaled $52,000. Thank you to everyone that contributed and volunteered to make this night a success. We will see you again next year!
